Matt Hepler is a Managing Partner at NextWave Partners LLC. Over the last 13 years, Matt has led several active investment campaigns and has engaged management teams, board members, and shareholders to improve value. Matt has led many active investments in the industrials and consumer sectors.
Matt most recently was a Partner at Marcato Capital Management LP. Based in San Francisco, Marcato managed a select number of passive and active investments across all industries with a primary focus on opportunities in middle-market public equities. While at Marcato, Matt served on the board of directors of Terex Corporation from February 2017 to September 2019 and Rayonier Advanced Materials from May 2018 to May 2019.
Before joining Marcato, Matt was a Partner at Red Mountain Capital Partners LLC, an investment fund based in Los Angeles focusing on small and mid-cap activist investments.
From 2008 to 2015, Matt served as a Managing Director at Relational Investors LLC. Matt led the firm’s research team focusing on the industrials and materials sectors.
Before joining Relational Investors, Matt spent six years as Vice President in the investment banking division of Credit Suisse, where he advised many of the bank’s top clients in the technology, media, telecom, and aerospace and defense sectors. Matt began his career as an Analyst in the technology mergers and acquisitions group at Robertson Stephens. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
